Indio is one of  the most pleasant places in the Coachella Valley. For many years it has been the historical, cultural, and agricultural backbone of Palm Springs, with world renowned offerings like Stagecoach: California’s Country Music Festival and the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival.

Indio is very proud of its heritage, boasting a whole host of historical sites and museums such as the Coachella Valley History Museum, which is located in the old Indio Schoolhouse. This schoolhouse is more than one hundred and ten years old and contains tons of interesting stuff, such as educational exhibits on the tools that the colonists used for farming, an authentic blacksmith’s shop, and a bunch of interesting events for you to learn at!

There is a lively arts scene taking shape in this town as well, with plenty of venues that allow Indio’s local talent to shine, such as the newly built amphitheater, the intimate Little Street Music Hall, and Center Stage. These venues are constantly showing off both the menagerie of local talent that Indio has to offer, and plenty of artists from out of town in order to mix it up. Past musical art, Indio is also home to many pieces of public visual art, such as the many murals dotting the plentiful green spaces, statues on street corners, and tones of other installations around the city!
